| EDGEFIELD Edgefield is Nashville's historic residential neighborhood located nearest to downtown on the East Bank. The boundaries include, South Fifth Street eastward to South Tenth Street, including most blocks on Shelby, Boscobel, Fatherland, Russell and Woodland Streets. Edgefield was Nashville's first residential National Trust Historic District. Edgefield's award winning designs for historic infill were recognized in "Southern Living" and featured in the National Trust publication, "Infill Structures in Historic Districts". Edgefield neighborhood is also home to the new East Park community center, located at the corner of Woodland Street and 6th Street South, this dynamic new facility will serve as an urban community center and “gateway” for this diverse neighborhood. The new building houses an indoor pool, gymnasium space, community meeting rooms to serve surrounding neighborhoods, ceramics, performing and fine arts, fitness and aerobics. A second floor walking/jogging track runs through the gymnasium as well as the fitness and aerobics spaces, and offers views into the public lobby areas. The community center also hosts the Hot Chicken Festival every year. |
